Safeguarding at TCHS
Thomas Cowley High School fully recognises its responsibilities for child protection and safeguarding. We have worked hard to create a culture of safeguarding within school so that young people are not just protected from significant harm but also actively supported in developing emotional resilience and a sense of wellbeing. We pride ourselves on being a listening school in which all young people know that there is a trusted adult to whom they can speak.
All staff know about know about the signs of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. Any concerns are reported to the school’s Safeguarding Officer who refers them to Children’s Services as well as contacting parents/carers.
It is important to note that any member of staff can also make this call, as can any member of the public who might be concerned about a child. According to research, only 1 in 3 people concerned about a child actually report it.
More detailed information about how we keep our students safe can be found in the school’s Safeguarding and Wellbeing Policies.
